About Assam Startup Seed Grant

The Assam Startup Policy is a landmark economic initiative spearheaded by the Department of Industries, Commerce & Public Enterprises, Government of Assam, designed to position Assam as the leading startup destination of Northeast India.

At the core of the policy is 'The Nest', the state-of-the-art marquee startup incubator established in Guwahati and managed in strategic partnership with IIM Calcutta Innovation Park (IIMCIP).

The policy provides a structured multi-stage funding pipeline: from non-dilutive Idea2POC Seed Grants (up to ₹5 Lakhs) for prototyping and early proof-of-concept, to Scale-up Acceleration Grants of up to ₹50 Lakhs for commercialization.

Startups recognized by Assam Startup also benefit from monthly sustenance allowances, 50% office rental reimbursements, 100% patent/trademark filing fee rebates, and direct market linkages with state procurement departments.

Who Can Apply? (Eligibility Criteria)

Eligibility Rule 1

DPIIT-recognized Startups incorporated as a Private Limited Company, LLP, or Registered Partnership Firm.

Eligibility Rule 2

The startup must have its registered corporate office, primary operations, or manufacturing base located in Assam.

Eligibility Rule 3

Mandatory registration and onboarding on the official Assam Startup portal ('The Nest').

Eligibility Rule 4

At least 50% of the core workforce employed should be local residents of Assam (for employment-linked subsidy claims).

Eligibility Rule 5

The venture must be developing an innovative product, service, or technology with high commercialization and job-creation potential.

Eligibility Rule 6

Open across all sectors with high priority for Agri-Tech, Bamboo/Bio-economy, Handloom/Tea, HealthTech, Tourism, and Clean Energy.
