About NCIIPC Startup India AI Grand Challenge

The NCIIPC Startup India AI Grand Challenge is a high-level national cybersecurity innovation initiative spearheaded by the National Critical Information Infrastructure Protection Centre (NCIIPC) under the National Technical Research Organisation (NTRO), in partnership with Startup India / DPIIT.

The grand challenge aims to discover, evaluate, and deploy state-of-the-art Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning solutions to safeguard India's Critical Information Infrastructure (CII) spanning Power Grids, Banking & Financial Systems, Telecommunications, Nuclear Facilities, Civil Aviation, and Defence Systems.

Featuring a non-dilutive total prize pool of ₹88 Lakhs, top-ranking startups and cybersecurity researchers receive direct cash awards (₹25 Lakhs for winner, ₹15 Lakhs for runners-up) along with development milestone grants to build production-grade automated cyber-defence suites.

Winners receive access to national cyber testbeds, specialized dataset sandboxes, high-level intelligence debriefs, and direct pilot deployment opportunities across critical national infrastructure agencies.

Who Can Apply? (Eligibility Criteria)

Eligibility Rule 1

DPIIT-recognized Startups incorporated as a Private Limited Company or LLP in India.

Eligibility Rule 2

Cybersecurity research teams, academicians, and individual Indian innovators.

Eligibility Rule 3

The solution must utilize Artificial Intelligence / ML for cyber anomaly detection, threat hunting, or OT security.

Eligibility Rule 4

Must be capable of securing critical infrastructure (SCADA, ICS, cloud grids, or financial protocols).

Founders and core development teams must be Indian citizens and clear national security vetting.
