About RKVY-RAFTAAR SRIJAN Student Entrepreneurship

The SRIJAN (Student Innovation and Agripreneurship) initiative under RKVY-RAFTAAR is a specialized grant scheme formulated by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India, to nurture student-led innovation across India's agricultural universities and technical colleges.

SRIJAN provides non-dilutive financial grants of up to ₹4 Lakhs per approved project to undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral students developing working models, software tools, bio-formulations, or robotic prototypes for the farming sector.

The program encourages student innovators to tackle on-the-ground agrarian bottlenecks, such as stubble management, solar irrigation, precision pesticide spraying, drone mapping, cold storage optimization, and automated sorting.

Supported by host R-ABIs, student teams gain access to state-of-the-art agricultural engineering workshops, ICAR trial fields, patent filing support, and transition pathways to incorporate full-fledged agritech commercial startups upon graduation.

Who Can Apply? (Eligibility Criteria)

Eligibility Rule 1

Students currently enrolled in UG, PG, or PhD programs in Agriculture, Engineering, Biotechnology, or allied disciplines.

Eligibility Rule 2

Must apply as an individual student innovator or a multidisciplinary student team (up to 4 members).

Eligibility Rule 3

Must be endorsed by their college / university department Head or Dean.

Eligibility Rule 4

The project must address a tangible problem in agriculture, horticulture, dairy, sericulture, or agro-processing.

Eligibility Rule 5

Must demonstrate technical feasibility and working prototype readiness within 6 to 12 months.

Eligibility Rule 6

Teams with female student participation and rural farming backgrounds are strongly encouraged.
